The coyote has been the spirit animal for PetSynergy since I first started in 1998. It is not the animal I would have picked, but the coyote picked me, and has been important for my business in a symbolic way. When I have tried to use a different animal like dolphin or otter, some of my personal favorites, the coyote has made it clear that they needed to be my logo so I am honoring the coyote here, as part of my work and as a healing energy for myself and those I serve.
The Coyote is the trickster, shape-shifter and transformer. The Navajo never kill the Coyote because they believe it came with the first man and woman into the physical world when it was formed. Also the Coyote is seen as a bringer of life and a new birth symbol. The Coyote is symbolic of the universal cycle of life and death. The coyote has a good sense of humor and of irony and things are never what they seem which is often the case in the holistic field, where healing is subtle, miraculous and paradoxical compared to the more cut and dried western medicine.
Coyote is our right to be individuals while learning how to cooperate and work with others. He is our ability to adapt to discourage others from invading our space or doing us actual harm and to hide and avoid danger. Coyote is the ability to speak out and to tell it like it is not be afraid to speak the truth. Coyote also about not conforming, and taking risks, and play, so we may find a better way of going about things that will be of greater benefit to all.
Coyote also brings us the gift of laughter which can even to heal diseases such as Cancer. Laughter is powerful medicine and one that we need to remember. Coyote is the part of us that knows what it feels like to be at the bottom and how to climb back up again with patience and persistence. Coyote can teach us how to live in the world and how walk into our full potential. It is said that if all the other creatures of the world were to die off, one would remain and that would be the Coyote. I have come to appreciate this slippery totem, when I hear them howling at night or they cross my path mysteriously, and embrace their medicine, so I am honoring them here and thank them for helping me do what I do.
